Old Chatham

Old Chatham is about 20 miles southeast of Albany NY.

From the west or north through Albany

Take I-90 East to exit 11E (Nassau, Rt 9 south/Rt 20 east). This exit puts you on 20E/9S and at the second traffic light 20 and 9 split. Stay on 20 east 4.2 miles into the town of Nassau. (Obey the speed limit in Nassau). At the traffic light take a right and then quickly bear left onto Malden Street. Malden Street goes off diagonally to the left (you will see a business called Lou's Pizza Hub at this intersection). Go 3.7 miles on Malden Street, which turns into Albany Turnpike. This street will end at Route 66. Take a left, go 0.3 mile and take a right onto Shaker Museum Road (There is a church at the intersection and a sign for the Shaker Museum). From that point it is about 1.5 miles to the camping area and trial field on the right.

From the east via I-90.
Take I-90 west into NY to Exit B2 (Taconic Parkway). Immediately after tollbooth (0.2 miles) take the exit for Route 295. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp and follow the signs for Rt 295. Turn left onto Rt 295 East and travel approx. 1 mile into East Chatham. Turn left at the sign for Old Chatham onto the Albany Turnpike and follow 3 miles into the center of Old Chatham. From the village center, take a left onto Route 13 (after general store) and follow for 1 mile to Shaker Museum Rd. where you turn right. The trial field is on the left about 1.5 miles up Shaker Museum road (about 1/2 mile past the farm entrance). The parking /camping area is on the left just past the trial field. Note: trucks and trailers are not allowed on the Taconic Parkway but you can get off I-90 at exit B2 and onto Rt 295.

From the south via NYS Thruway (87).
It’s shorter to take 87 north to exit 21 (Rt-23/Catskill/Cario) and then go on back roads. But it is simpler to take 87 to exit 21A (I-90 east, Mass Pike/Boston) and take I-90 east to exit B2 (then see above). Exit 21A is for the south spur of I-90, not the part that goes through Albany.
